Build a Box That Opens Like Magic!

What if a box could sense you walking toward it—and open all by itself?

With the Magic Box Robotics & Coding Kit, students build and program an interactive box that responds when someone approaches! Along the way, they'll explore coding, circuits, sensors, electronics, and mechanical design while creating a project that feels a little bit like magic.

Students learn to connect real electronic components, program a sensor to detect their environment, and control a servo motor to bring their creation to life. Then they can experiment with the code and customize their Magic Box into a creation of their own.

KIT-8-3 — Explorer

A fun, hands-on introduction to coding and robotics. Students use block-based coding and an IR sensor to make their Magic Box detect someone approaching and automatically open.

They'll explore coding, circuits, sensors, servo motors, inputs and outputs, mechanical movement, and troubleshooting.

Ages: 8–11
Project Duration: 4–6 hours
Curriculum: 9 lessons | ~2 hours of video

KIT-8-2 — Advanced

A deeper exploration of coding, circuits, and electronics. Students use text-based coding and an ultrasonic distance sensor to build their Magic Box while diving deeper into breadboarding and electronic circuits.

Along the way, they'll experiment with LEDs, resistors, buttons, switches, potentiometers, sound sensing, RGB LEDs, servo motors, and sensor-driven programming.

Project Duration: 15–20 hours
Curriculum: 14 lessons | ~10 hours of video

What's in the Kit?

Everything students need for the electronics and robotics portion of the project is included.

Both versions include an Arduino-compatible computer board, breadboard, servo motor, LEDs, battery holder, jumper cables, screwdriver, and building materials.

Explorer Version: Adds an IR sensor and button for the introductory block-coding curriculum.
Advanced Version: Adds an ultrasonic sensor, sound sensor, buttons, switches, potentiometer, RGB LED, LEDs, and resistors for a deeper exploration of coding and circuit design.

Where we ship and shipping charges

Shipping availability depends on the product, supplier, and delivery address. Enter your address at checkout to see the available shipping options and final shipping charge before payment. If no shipping option is offered for your address, we cannot ship that combination of items to that destination. A shipping zone does not mean every product is available in every location.

Fulfillment through our partners

Apex Technica works with fulfillment partners, including suppliers through Shopify Collective, who ship products directly to customers. An order containing products from different suppliers may ship in separate packages. Shipping charges may be combined across packages; review the total at checkout.

Processing and delivery estimates

Order handling generally takes 3–5 business days before dispatch, but varies by supplier and product. Business days are Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Carrier transit time is additional to handling time. Contact hello@apextechnica.com before ordering if you need an item-specific dispatch estimate or delivery by a particular date. For Collective products, available shipping rates and carrier transit estimates are calculated at checkout. Carrier transit estimates describe time in transit after dispatch, not a guaranteed order-to-delivery date. Weekends, holidays, carrier disruptions, and customs processing can affect delivery.

Tracking and separate shipments

We send shipping confirmation and tracking details when they become available from the fulfillment partner. Separate shipments may have different tracking numbers and arrive on different days. Tracking can take time to show the carrier's first scan.

Address changes, delays, and delivery problems

Check your address before placing an order. Contact Apex Technica promptly to request a correction or cancellation; changes may be unavailable once processing begins. If a shipment is delayed, missing, damaged, or incorrect, contact us with your order number so we can investigate with the supplier or carrier. Do not send an item back without return instructions. Refund policy

30-day returns

Apex Technica accepts return requests within 30 calendar days after delivery, including returns because you changed your mind. This policy applies to products fulfilled by Apex Technica and by our fulfillment partners, including Shopify Collective suppliers.

Product condition

Items returned because you changed your mind must be unused, in their original packaging, and include all accessories and proof of purchase. This condition requirement does not prevent you from reporting a damaged, defective, or incorrect product.

Fulfillment partners

We work with fulfillment partners to ship some orders. Apex Technica remains your contact for returns and refunds and will coordinate with the partner. The return window and fees in this policy apply regardless of which partner fulfills your order. Do not send products directly to a partner without our return instructions.

How to request a return

Email hello@apextechnica.com within 30 days after delivery with your order number, the item you want to return, and the reason for your request. Include photos if the item arrived damaged, defective, or incorrect. We will provide authorization, the correct return address, and shipping instructions. Returns are made by mail; items from different partners may require separate return shipments. Please retain tracking and proof of shipment.

Return costs

For change-of-mind returns, the customer is responsible for purchasing the return shipping label and paying return shipping. Original shipping charges are not refundable for change-of-mind returns. We do not charge a restocking fee. For damaged, defective, or incorrect items, contact us so we can arrange an appropriate return or other resolution without charging you return shipping.

Refunds and exchanges

After the authorized return is received and inspected, we will notify you of the outcome. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within 10 business days after receipt and inspection. Your bank or payment provider may require additional time to post the credit. For exchanges, contact us to arrange a return and a separate new order; replacement availability is not guaranteed.

Damaged, defective, incorrect, or missing items

Contact Apex Technica promptly if your order arrives damaged or incorrect, has a defect, or does not arrive. We will investigate with the fulfillment partner or carrier and explain the available resolution. Manufacturer warranty coverage is separate from this return policy. Nothing in this policy limits rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
